A few days ago, my computer (an Asus Laptop running Windows 10) started making crackling noises whenever sounds are played. this would happen from both the speaker and any headphones that are plugged in. Then it started not being able to discover any wifi, even when there is signal in the room. It has also started to overheat a lot and there will be sudden drops in the frame rate. Then the computer even started double clicking on single clicks and shutting down on its own.

At first I thought it might have been a virus, so I virus scanned using both Malwarebytes and Windows Defender. Then I rolled back to before all this occurred. Nothing happened.

Then I went through the drivers and updated all the ones that were available, and deleted most of the unnecessary software. Still no avail.

At this point, I went to look for a solution online, but all I found were either just programs that hogged resources or somewhere along those lines. So I looked through the task manager, but no resources where being used to that point, only the system file was using a bit more memory than usual. There was also nothing special that i found in event log.

At this point, I just tried living with it, but it seems to be getting worse by the day.

Is there anyone that can help? Please?

This happens both when it is plugged in and not. If it's a motherboard issue, what could I do to check/fix?

Yeah, the hdmi has the same issue... if it is a motherboard issue... is the laptop done?

That is actually very strange, HDMI audio is usually digital and should be fine. Probably not be (just) a motherboard issue then. Try uninstalling all audio drivers, restarting, and installing them again.

You should also see if your TV and speakers also have the same noises without being connected to the computer

I have reinstalled all the drivers. The TV itself does not make the noise. I have the suspicion that the static is actually a byproduct of the lag.

What is your laptop model? My laptop is Asus K501LB, a new and recent laptop that I bought in September. It's a little laggy at times, but mine just requires a hard reboot and it's back to normal again.
