Right.I want a Flash Drive I can boot from just in case something happens.
My daughter had a problem with her laptop several months ago.
I was thinking I'd get a 16GB flash drive and if that happened again I'd be able to boot from it.
Is the below article not correct? Or have I misunderstood something?

I want to clarify, I would have legit windows on each machine, I'm not trying to pirate anything.
A small flash drive, or a full size SSD or HDD?It seems like everyone I look at on Amazon has bad benchmarks reported by a user.
I want a flash drive I can boot Windows 10 from. And maybe store some extra files.A small flash drive, or a full size SSD or HDD?
What do you plan on using this for?
"boot windows from" ?I want a flash drive I can boot Windows 10 from. And maybe store some extra files.
Not a SSD or HD, just a 16G memory stick.
It just seems that every one I look at has people complaining about how slow it is, it's slower than USB 2.0, etc.
I'm not looking for lightning fats, just something thats not garbage.
Middle of the pack USB 3.0 or better is fine.
"boot windows from" ?
You realize this is NOT a normal config.
And 16GB is far far too small.
And it will be desperately slow, no matter what flash drive you use.
Running Windows from an external drive - Windows To Go.
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/deployment/planning/windows-to-go-overview
This will require Win 10 Enterprise or Edu.
The Windows OS is absolutely not designed for running from an external drive, no matter the type.

Ok, thank you. So having a USB 3.0 for this purpose is unimportant. In answer to your original question, I have this 5 pack:

For your stated use, "speed" is mostly irrelevant. You're not using this to run the whole OS from.

I did get a 32GB flash drive and it worked like a charm. For your purpose you don't need 3.0 but you do need 32GB ( last I checked )
