I'll be heading off to college in the fall and would like to be able to bring a desktop, but currently my system is a bit older (has a 6700k) and is also full ATX so it'd probably be way too large. I'm looking to rebuild it reusing some parts in order to be a lot more compact.

I already have a 1440p monitor, 5700xt taichi, focus plus gold 650w, and a 480gb SSD though I'd like to get a 1TB ssd as well since 480gb is a little limiting. This build is what I'm currently considering: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/ZMkWht. However, there's a few things that I'm unsure of that I'd like to get some suggestions on before buying:

Motherboard: From what I've seen the B550I Aorus Pro is probably the best option, but I'm not sure if it'd be fine to get a cheaper B450 board or the Asrock B550M-ITX/ac, which I'm unsure about because the VRMS are significantly worse and I'd like to do some light overclocking

Cooler: From some comparisons I think the wraith stealth would be almost as good as many $40-$50 LP coolers, but I want to make sure it'd be fine since it wasn't a super reputable source.

Case: The RVZ01-E seems like a good case and it supports both my ATX PSU and very long GPU, but I don't know if there are any better options for the same price or cheaper.

Thanks for the help!

I would stick with B550. The quality is much better, vs B450, plus you get PCI-E gen 4.0 support, for graphics, and the primary M.2 NVME slot. The second M.2 slot will run at 3.0 speeds, on B550, but only 2.0, on B450. Definitely recommend an NVME drive.

I've actually built a very similar system recently.

Stock cooler for 5600x is adequate. It can be noisy but the cpu is very efficient and wont burn a ton of power. Just make sure your case can support the cooler height.

The biggest issue with motherboard is does it support a 5600x or does it need a bios update. I went with a gigabyte b550 because the qflash makes it easy to update bios without needing a donor chip. Hard to talk brands because each brand has hits and misses. Check b550 roundup from hardware unboxed. There's like 20 boards and only 3 or so to avoid. Just make sure you dont have one of those 3.

There aren't a ton of case choices. I went an Evolve Shift 2, but those need an SFX psu. Cant help much here.
