So I'm upgrading my graphics card - I don't know if I should buy a 970 or splash out a bit on a 980, the price difference is about £200 and I want to know if it's worth spending.

Also, I don't know which branding to go for, do I get an MSI card, or an Asus etc.

Go with the company you...

buy a GTX 980 those spc's would work well with it after that upgrade the cpu/motherboard then your good for a while until games start using alot of ram

No, the OP doesn't not need a 980ti for 1080p gaming. The thing is absolute overkill for what he is trying to do and is not worth the extra $200 dollars. I have the 980, I'm talking from direct experience.

The 970 is more then enough for max settings at 1080p @ 120hz.

The 980 is better for 1440p at max settings.

x2 980 ti's are good for 4k @ 60hz.

OP, if you have the extra money burning a hole in your pocket, sure the 980ti is a great card and sure is worth the money. But you wont be able to utilize it at 1080p.

I don't really have the extra money tbh aha so a 970 is much more suited.

Now it's just the question of what brand to buy, I dunno what company makes better 970's, any suggestions?

Go with the company you like the most. Anyone that claims one is better then the other, they are blowing smoke. Nvidia doesn't allow companies to modify their architecture beyond a certain point, so they all end up being roughly the same. Some run better then others at stock speed, but who keeps these things stock? They all overclock within a few FPS of each other. Personally, I prefer EVGA because I have never had a failed card from them. And, I have heard the BEST about their customer service so that keeps me feeling at ease.

So... EVGA, ASUS, Gigabyte, MSI, are all big names everyone stands by.
