Hey All,
I am looking to build out a super computer used for AI training, and also as a server.
Here is what I am thinking, multi threading is going to be one of the biggest selling points for me I definitely want something over 20 cores/threads. I am looking at dual Xeon build but I would consider AMD too-- but since this will be for AI research Intel is better suited IMO.
So is Xeon still worth it with the new new I9 coming on line-- it has 18 cores and 32 threads.
My thinking is this:
For the processors spend around 3,000$ (can bump to 4 to 4.5) if needed.
For GPU im thinking Tesla: ~1500$

And for data drive probably a 3 ssd drive raid 0. 1,000 usd
Storage raid 5 ~ 15 tb -- 500$ usd
5.5 k USD for main components.
3k usd for case + PSU + mobo + liquid cooling + accessories
Should be around 10,000.
Any tips on chips / mobos.
-- Is there any networking that I should consider? I would like to consider scalibitly and fast networking switches to add on another similar system and combine them. A la a rack server that is not rack mounted.
