Are super flower psu's any good? Thinking about upgrading my PSU to the super flower golden green 750hx and want to know if it's a good buy.

Like every other manufacturer (and most brands you recognize don't actually manufacturer anything) SF makes products of varying quality. Most of the time the question

Pick the true statement from the following:

a) [insert brand name here] makes excellent products
b) [insert brand name here] makes very good products
c) [insert brand name here] makes good products
d) [insert brand name here] makes average products
e) [insert brand name here] makes crappy products

the most correct answer is usually f) all of the above

SF however tends not to have products in the lower tiers with their major platforms being:

Golden Green - EVGA Supernova 750B2/850B2, NZXT Hale90, Rosewill Capstone, Rosewill Lightnin
Golden King - Rosewill Tachyon
Leadex Gold - EVGA Supernova 750G2 - 1300G2
Leadex Platinum - EVGA Supernova 1000P2 - 1300P2

You should be able to get an idea of the platform quality by looking of reviews of the listed PSUs.

The Golden Green platform is a good to very good PSU made much more attractive by its very affordable price. The EVGA 750 BD for example often is selling between $45 and $60.

Oh alright looks good, thanks for the help :)

Would you recommend a 650w leadex or the golden green 750hx?

PC specs are i7 4790k
Msi 980
2 ssd's
Hard drive
Those are the main things

I'm also planning to upgrade to a 1080 later on so I want a good psu for then

Would depend upon application.... idea is to pick the right PSU for the rest of the build. No sense "putting $2500 set of rims on a $500 car (or $200 rims on a $60,000 car)" as I like to say.

Build with moderate overclocking and reasonable budget goals ... I'd use the Golden Green Platform (9.0 performance / 9.5 Build Quality)

Build with high overclocking taking precedence over budget concerns .... I'd use the Leadex Gold Platform (10.0 performance / 9.5 Build Quality)
http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&op=Story6&reid=380

Build with high overclocking and no budget concerns .... I'd use the Leadex Platinum Platform (10.0 performance / 10.0 Build Quality)

I'm not going to overclock so I just want a good quality one with a good fan because the one I got right now has a ticking fan which is the fan bearing and it buzzes under decent amount of load, what do you reccommend for that? I've got money so I want a good quality for not really expensive

The B2 / Golden Green will be just fine. I have had 3 EVGA (Leadex Gold) PSUs where the PSU fan was the loudest thing in the box so if that's a concern, you may want to look into that .. others here whose opinions I trust have told me that their G2's are just fine. I thot that it was "just me having a noise sensitivity" or "bad luck but when the G2100 died and was replaced by RMA the new one was just as bad.

If noise is your big thing, the Seasonis SSR series is < 20 dbA

here's one of the best units available for a great $65 price

The new prime SSR series is probably the best series of PSUs out there

The SSR750 TD sits in 1st place in TPUs relative performance rating w/ 111.06% and a noise rating of 8.48 dba. The 850 is just behind at 110.27% / 19.26 dbA and both scored 4 x 10.0 scores at jonnyguru

Hey, I've seen quite a few bad reviews with the SSR750 also I'm buying my PSU from www.aria.co.uk

Could you pick out a good one with a decent price? At the moment im thinking the supper flower leadex 650w 80plus gold which is at a very good price compared to amazon etc same with the golden green, it's a lot cheaper on aria.

So the leadex will be the Best Buy for me under £120?

I'm buying my PSU from aria.co.uk

Could you also check and see if there is any better psu for around the same price or a little higher? Thanks :)

That's what I was told leading me to believe I just got a bad one .... but after the RMA, the replacement G2 was just as loud. The B2 is quiet but it was purchased cause it was $45 and never breaks 250 watts ... fan never goes on.

As for "whisper quiet", whispers can be heard and are therefore I put "Whisper quiet" in the unacceptable category :)

On my desk... Enthoo Primo, side panels off 20 - 24 " from my ears..... 16 fans (10 radiator, 6 case) running at 375 - 425 rpm atm, 1250 watt Seasonic X series PSU, GFX cards water cooled.

Next Desk ... Enthoo Pro, side panels off ... (6) case fans, 1 GFX card (dual fan), stock CPU cooler, EVGA B2 750

Son's box ... Enthoo Luxe, (9) case fans .. 2 GFX card (4 fans), Swiftech H240-X AIO, EVGA G2 1000

With all systems under stress test (Furmark), the only sound in the room is the G2 1000 ... both the 1st and the 2nd.... and by that I mean, all of us have sat down more than once and hit the power button trying to turn on a PC that was already on. Not quiet ... simply inaudible.

Good point about whisper quiet, bad analogy. Basically both at full tilt you have to really be listening for - but you can hear, however the G2's fan you have to listen much closer. I also have a Seasonic G-series 450w in my server, maybe I'm deaf but I can't hear the thing at all.

Well, not of they have the SSR 650 which is under £104.99 at Overclockers.co.uk ... or the 550 watt model which is £86.99

Haha I'm confused now, should I get the super flower leadex or no?

SSR 750 is 1st place all time an TPUs PSU list

SSR 750 is 2nd place all time on TPUs low noise list

10/10/10/10 rating at jonnyguru ...even in price
Performance = 10

This is not a life altering decision ... either will well serve your needs so it's inconsequential which of the two you get. However, if you are fixated on getting "the best" value for the money,,, then just go by johnny's ratings which you already have.

For the Seasonic G Series (SSR 650).

You have two Seasonic units with 10 build quality and the Leadex Gold with a 9 ... I'd take the 10, regardless of who it shipped from that serviced my area.
