I'm working on an ancient XP system that is currently receiving a black screen (without cursor) after Windows Logo. When it finally does get to the Login Screen, it is a bit laggy starting up. I can leave it running at the Login Screen overnight and it seems to be just fine but when I log in and try using the system at all, it shuts down and restarts the looooong process all over again.
I don't believe it is anything with the display settings like many threads have suggested, and it doesn't seem to be overheating as I'd assume it would shut down within 10 minutes or so and wouldn't be running overnight without issue.
Unfortunately, I'm stuck with keeping this a XP machine for the time being.
Any help/advice is appreciated.
