And why people should wait for the scientific method to finish before jumping on the hype train.

Instead this site got flooded by article after article trying to lay hype rail for the train 🙄.

That also applies equally to the "it's definitely not a superconductor" claims.

Even synthesis is proving to be more difficult than expected, so "This substance we made that may or may not be the substance in question has X properties" claims are not the definitives people take them as.

Unlike Fleischmann & Pons 'cold fusion' case, there are no new physics required for a room, temperature superconductor to be possible. No physical laws prohibit one from existing, nor indicate any barriers to one existing,

Before you are allowed to publish a 'discovery' in any journal, you yourself should be required by ehtical conduct to repeating your own discovery. This would logically eliminate any excuse for premature findings, and would cut down on the hype and bullpucky when you yourself are on the hook if results can not be reproduced. Measure twice, cut once, and save face. As it stands, some folks got a lot of attention they shouldn't have and wasted a lot of other people's time.

Since this is coming out of a Korean University this history video about the Korean scientist, Hwang Woo Suk, who faked advanced cloning technology for years despite being supposedly co-sponsored by other scientist including a preeminent American, seems relevant. It's a two part video. Sure its great if true. But extraordinary claims, require extraordinary proof.

TL;DW Always verify the data.
