We just got our supermicro X11SRM-VF motherboard back from supermicro today with the latest updated bios.

we are using a xeon w 2295 processor and 1 ram stick. or remove the ram stick and expect a different error code of no ram. which is like 5 short beeps and 1 long one. But we only ever get 3 beeps.

Support was little to no help on the phone and just said oh you are not using a supermicro chassis and that is required for these motherboards to run when the user manual has no mention of this.

Everything else seems fine. we are just stuck scratching our heads. Has anyone encountered this?

Everything I can find points to your RAM. Is the RAM on the Supermicro QVL list ?
3 beeps with an AMI BIOS is a RAM problem.

Do you have registered ECC DIMMs ?

Hello thank you for replying, Their own tech support said if I removed all ram I should hear a completely different error code sequence when having ram / vs not having ram. something like 5 short beeps and 1 long one. This is not the case it's always 3 short beeps. it never makes it past cpu initialization on the screen.

I think we are about to squash this build and go with a thread ripper as the build requirements require a micro atx formfactor.

You were right my ram sticks were wrong and the support line had wrong information. Creating a support ticket with super micro came to better answers
