I am planning on buying Intel i5 6600K processor. On the Intel page, the different RAM that are supported by the processor are DDR4-1866/2133. I plan on overclocking the processor, so I am thinking of buying 3000Mhz frequency RAM. Will the RAM be supported?

The mobo I was planning to buy is MSI Gaming M5.

Thanks

If you have a non-Z170 motherboard, you can only use 2133mhz RAM. If you have a Z170 board, you can overclock the memory controller and use faster RAM.

Many Skylake CPUs top out and become unstable after 2800-3200mhz, but it's silicon lottery.

^ this right here
i remember reading some tests that skylakes 6600k and 6700k optimal performance was in the 2800-3000's
the Intel Ark page might say that it "only" supports the standard ram specifications, but its up to your motherboard/bios which speed your ram will run,
and considering the MSI Z170A GAMING M5 supports up to 3600+ OC RAM speeds, you are good to go on your 3000MHz ram purchase
