SupremeFX X-Fi - 7.1 surround - Device not detected.

I got this sound card with my Asus Rampage Extreme motherboard. But after installing the drivers I tried to run the Sound Blaster X-Fi MB software the followed. The message I got was "The audio device supported by this application is not detected. The application will exit". This and the fact that I don't have real surround experience from my ROCCAT Kave - Solid 5.1 Gaming Headset, indicates that there is a problem. In addition my bass is kinda weak - which I would love to be able to adjust by the way - and I've read that alot of other people have trouble with this card. Though they have NO sound, but I have limited sound. What helped me abit was uninstalling the SoundMAX driver and let windows install the Microsoft drivers, though I'm not quite there yet.

The creative support sucks. They obviously don't want customers contacting them, so they've automized every thing, making it real hard to find anything.

Any help would be really appreciated, thank you.

got the same problem here. I tried to update to the new driver, and now nothing works. Same Mobo. Rolled back the driver, that didnt work. So I uninstalled all sound related devices/drivers. Rebooted, windows installed the generic drivers that give speakers basic funtionality. I can only get four speakers to work, no sub, and the software wont open because the "supported device is not found" . When I actually did get the software to open, with the enhancements, eax options etc,,.... no sound would come out of the speakers, but I know the speakers work and are hooked up properly.

Alrighty then. Heres my advice for Vista 64, for Rampage Extreme II boards. Unistall all your sound devices. Reboot. Let windows install the generic driver and verify your speakers work on that. Install new driver (soundmax) from asus website. Most likely you sill have "errors" as I did and the device not recognized, software wont open etc. I then downloaded the xFi utility from asus and installed it in my Creative Directory, lauched it and everything works!!!!! Of course this is a software audio solution, and my device is "speakers" as I am not using spdif or hdmi or optical , and I am getting some mixed results but the sound is way better than generic windows drivers. I am hearing slight crackling for windows wav sounds . I think if you want real quality, you have to go to a dedicated hardware solution, but you can play around wiht a host of effects and environments once you get this working.
