Hi, a couple of days ago I encountered this problem of a memory leak but I haven't found a solution to this yet.

  • * Windows 7
    * 16 GB Memory
    * Main Anti-Virus: Norton Security Suite

The problem: My memory gradually goes up with uptime, svchost.exe is using a high amount of memory. After having 20 hours of uptime, 15 GB of RAM is used so 15 out of 16. Also while I'm at it, Norton, my main anti-virus started to act up and I thought this might be connected to my high memory usage; I can't start up Norton giving me an error code of "8504, 104".

So I thought, would this be a virus? people recommended me to run malwarebytes to see if I had a virus and I it didn't find anything, I ran it twice just in case but it still didn't show anything.

My Resource Monitor -

I also ran RAMMAP to monitor my memory usage as well
(At the time, the PC had a 1 hour uptime with 6 GB Used)

Hopefully, someone get's back to me soon, I will try to reply as soon as possible as well.

Thanks~!

I'm pretty sure I do but regarding to my norton problem since it has my backup, I don't think I can restore anything if Norton doesn't even start up in the first place.

So in short, no unfortunately, I don't think have a backup I can restore to.
