So basically i bought some upgrades for my gaming rig including a new cpu, ram and motherboard. Because i swapped the hardware of my pc, my windows 10 home edition is now deactivated for some reason. I tried to reactivate it with my productkey but it won't reactivate again saying that the key has already been used on a different computer (my old motherboard i guess). I tried the troubleshoot option that you can find in 'Settings > update and security > activation' and choose the 'i changed hardware on this device recently'. It than asked to sign in into my windows account to check for a digital key but without success. Now i am stuck with a beast computer but with that annoying little 'activate windows' text in the bottom right corner of my screen and honestly it's driving me nuts as i dont know how i can actually fix this! Luckily you guys are way smarter than me and hopefully you guys will be able to help solving this problem :)

The only possible way would have been to do this before you changed the parts:

Read and do this before you change any parts:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/20530/windows-10-reactivating-after-hardware-change
http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-3164428/windows-build-1607-activation.html

But being one of the fine offerings (coff coff) from Kinguin, even that probably would not have worked.

Now, your only recourse is to purchase a new, valid OS. Win 10 Home is around $90-$100 USD.
Or, live with the unactivated state.

No. my computer is a custom build and not a prebuild. The code i got was from kinguin which cost me 23 euros 2 years back and that worked just fine when i installed the os 2 years ago.

There's your problem. You got a key that was meant for a brand name OEM system. These keys will only work on one computer and cannot be transferred to a new.

Edit.:
A full legit Windows 10 Home key will cost around 130-150 EUR.

So if i just buy another key from kinguin for 23 euros and i do a clean re-installed of windows i will be able to have an activated os again?

So i checked the windows store and microsoft asks for 145 euros! Thats 169 DOLLARS...

You can probably get it a bit cheaper from a retailer.
Keys bought from places like Kinguin, use at your own risk and know they are in a grey zone when it comes to how legit they are.

He is likely not from the US as he said he bought it for 23 Euros.
