Sweex USB Sound Card Adapter - No Sound

Hi all,

The audio jack on my laptop no longer works so I bought a Sweex USB Sound Card Adapter as a handy substitute - the problem though, is that although the laptop detects it, there's no sound coming through the earphones I've connected to it!

Is this because I have nothing going into the microphone jack?

This is really frustrating me as I depend on them greatly due to being partially deaf - any help and / or advice is greatly appreciated!

You need to make the Sweex the default system sound device. This various w/OS, so which one are you running?

When I look at the available sound devices I see 3 on the list, but I'm not sure any of them are Sweex - regardless, making any of them the default device does nothing. I use Windows 7.

As of this morning I got an alert stating that one of my devices is not working properly - I don't know if it's the Sweex adapter as there's no clear indication and the light on the device flashes.

reboot is never a bad thing to try first, esp with sounds & network issues.
Have you tried selecting it and then clicking the configure button and setting the output to headphones? You might want to check out properties also.
You're not using earphones with a built in mic are you? Make sure they are not muted. My earphones have a mute button on them...

Also, if you rt click on the usb sound there is an option to test there as well.

On closer inspection it seems the problem lies with the headphones (they also didn't work on my phone) and not with the audio jack so I will need to replace them...

It did suck, until I put the new headphones and found them to be a much snugger fit with better sound quality!

Much louder, the bass is more pronounced. I found with the previous headphones I always had the volume all the way up, but with these I sometimes need to turn it out to around 40%.

I'm not sure if it's the adapter or the headphones (which are actually in-ears, pardon my terminology!).
