Switch from an APU to GPU?

So, I had an already built PC from a while back, and it has an AMD E1-1200 dual core APU in it. I just recently took a GT 730 and stuck it in there and also installed the drivers for it. But,the PC uses the APU instead of the GPU, which makes me kinda mad. Anyone know how to use the GPU instead of the APU without disabling the APU?

Do you get a black screen then? My knowledge is that the APU uses the ports directly on the motherboard and does not go through the discrete gpu unless you are in xfire.

No, I can still turn it on and use it just fine. But when I try playing any games, like MC (Which in my other rig with the same GPU, gets about 75 GPS average) I'll get like 5-20 FPS, and when I press F3 to see my info, it shows both the APU and GPU, but yet it is only using my APU.

If you're trying to use an Nvidia card there's no reason to have it installed. I think it may be causing the conflict. You could always download the newest version of the Catalyst Control Center first and have it ready to reinstall if there's a problem.

Okay. I just didn't know what would happen if I uninstalled it, and then, if there was ever a GPU crash, that it would try to use alternate graphics but there would be no drivers for it so the PC would crash. But okay, thank you!

you need to disable the igpu built into that amd chip via the bios. also like said, after that make sure to uninstall the amd graphics catalyst drivers. you likely need to have some of the amd catalyst drivers though since the motherboard might be accessing them.

I have the default MoBo that came with the computer, and the Graphics Controller option and all my other graphics options are grayed out and not able to be changed. But for some reason, my games still recognize my GPU. They just don't use it.
