I'm wondering if I can switch from Rear Panel Microphone Input to the Front Microphone Panel Input. Rear Panel Microphone works, but when I plug in my earphones (with a splitter) into the front earphone and microphone inputs, the microphone is recognized, but no sound is registered when I speak into it.

Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-H81.Amp-UP LGA 1150 Intel H81
Case: NZXT Source 220 Mid Tower
Earphones: Apple Earphone w/ Mic
Splitter: 3.5mm 4 Pin to 2x3 Pin 3.5mm

Thank you!

Sorry about the delay. A splitter cable, if I'm not mistaken, just splits the audio/voice into 2 channels. Meaning you can plug more into it. It makes it Ideal for having 2 mics or if your friend wants to listen to a song as well. But from my understanding, it only does that.

Now, there are USB adapters to where you plug a headphone/microphone into it and it creates its own virtual audio driver which is great for recording on more than 2 channels but as for your Headphone/Microphone all-in-one head set from apple, it wont work. It may work for Apple devices such as a Mac, but I cannot confirm that.

I have GS4 headphone/mic combo and the mic only works when its plugged into either: A: My PS4 Controller or B: My phone. Other than that...
No you cannot. The rear jacks are a part of the motherboard while the front are connected to the motherboard via cable. And if you're trying to use the mic with the earphone as a microphone, it will not work properly. That is mainly recognized with phones because that's what they were designed for.

Just to clarify, I purchased a splitter cable, am I still unable to use these earphones? and if only the rear mic jacks work, what are the front ones for?

I hope this clears up everything.
