Switched PC Case, CPU cooler running faster and louder than usual.

I noticed the CPU cooler (AMD Box, stock cooler) is sometimes very loud since replacing the PCs case yesterday.

Looked at the BIOS/UEFI and the temperature is always between 38 and 48 degrees Celsius, with the fan speed ranging from 3683RPM to 4800RPM (at which point it sounds like a jet engine).

The cpu cooler didn't do this with the previous case.


I don't understand why this happens, the newer case, a K380 from Cooler Master, has more internal space , better cable management and better ventilation than the previous one, and the PSU is bottom mounted instead of top-mounted, like previously.


I should add that this only happens when the CPU is at load, otherwise, the only noise you can hear is from the 120mm fan at the front.

Looking at the case, it has only one front 120mm intake fan.
That is generally insufficient if you have hot components.

What is your cpu and graphics card?

If you take the case covers off, does this fix your problem?
You could try adding a 120mm intake fan on the bottom.

A second possibility is that your cpu cooler has come loose during the switch.
Try reseating the cooler.
Your temperatures should be around 10-15c. over ambient at idle if the cooler is mounted well.

I have a GTX 750 Ti 2GB and an AMD FX-8300 processor.
Tried reseating the cooler. Temperatures aren't that high now, with 22-25C at idle, sometimes it will spike to 51C and the cooler goes into turbojet mode to compensate.

Will add another 120mm fan to the back of the case... See if that helps...

Final Decision - Ended up buying an aftermarket cooler, the Hyper TX3 Evo from Cooler Master.

FX processors do run hot and do not tolerate heat well.
Yes, you need a decent cooler.
But...
I think thatTX3 will be a sideways step.
You still will be using a 92mm fan, and it will be equally noisy.
Pick one with a 120mm fan.
Scythe kotetsu, cryorig H7, or cm hyper212 are much better and inexpensive.

The only inexpensive, yet good, cooler I found that would fit my case currently available in brazilian stores was the TX3 Evo.

It won't be super silent, but I do expect it to be at least more silent than the stock one, while keeping the CPU cool enough so that it doesn't begin throttling at high loads...

An update. I've actually removed and reinstalled the cooler... (I don't know if that's what you meant by "reseating"), now idle temps dropped as low as 15C and the PC is silent again.
