Switching from AMD to Intel

Hello, my names Ethan and I'm looking to get some new parts for Christmas. I currently have this build: (http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Arcadure/saved/8rKQzy) and was looking around hoping to upgrade my processor and noticed that I would need a new motherboard as well. I'd prefer AMD, but have been told I should use Intel and would get better performance with the current generation of processors. Also I will be using this PC for Gaming and 3D Design.
