Switching from an asus to a gigabyte mobo and having some bugs...

Ok so I just tore down my crazy pc and made a little mini itx build and Im having some bugs with some things, for example my h100i wont run its fans, my iPhone wont charge anymore, some programs wont open, the computer freezes and wont turn off the fans when I "shut down" from windows.

I switched from a x79 to a z97 (4930k to a 4790k) and from a rampage iv to gigabytes little z97n wifi model. And I kept my 1tb 840 evo the same.

Here is the weird thing I had been changing my hd from my old x79 platform to my wife's alienware mx14 laptop and having no problems at all with any programs.

evga 780ti classy stock for now
8gb of not over clocked vengeance 2400mhz ram
Samsung 1tb 840 evo with the bios patch installed


Do I have to somehow uninstall the old bios stuff from asus?

With a motherboard change, the BEST answer is a clean install of the OS. That may or may not violate the licensing agreement (but we will ignore that for now). All of the old chipset drivers are still part of the OS. You need to start with a clean OS and add the drivers for your NEW motherboard.

Is there a way to overwrite the os without wiping the whole hd?

No its better to do a clean install. You'll have less probs

Ok n00bish q#2, how can I wipe my whole hd (delete everything) so I can clean install.

Buy a version of windows, if you havent got one for the PC

Just do the install and have Win format before proceeding with the install

...and booting it from a cd drive will wipe all the old files?

When the Win CD starts up, before it actually starts installing files it provides the option to format the drive you are installing to , which will wipe out all the files and data on the drive
