So i am going to get the rx 470 tomorow (i have a gtx 760 atm). And i am wondering if i should justtake out the nvidia card and put in my amd card and put in the cd that it comes with and then update the new drivers and delete the old nvida drivers?
Or should i dlete nvida and then put on my amd card to my system?

Okey can you tell me how i can do that? So just uninstall nvida drivers. Close pc, insert amd card and then putting the disk in and then get the new drivers? If anything screws up and the AMD card wont work can i just put my 760 back in and my pc will automatically install the drivers or?

first go to "programs and features" and uninstall it from there. after that is done then check device manger to make sure it isn't still showing your display adapter as nvidia and if it is uninstall it from there. after that shutdown the computer and install the new GPU

there is also a program you can use called DDU that will help remove the drivers as well if you still have issues

It is also best to just install the latest AMD driver downloaded directly from the AMD website, rather than loaded from the included CD and then updating:

You might download the correct driver first, so when you boot up after the Nvidia driver/card is removed....and scrubbed with DDU....that you don't have a hard time navigating to find/download it. Window's included display driver may be at a very low resolution before you install the new AMD driver.

Okey so i will go to uninstall, uninstall all the nvidia things, then turn off my pc. Set in the amd card download drivers from the website?

All graphics cards have a low res default mode that works with no drivers.

I would first download and save the proper new amd driver directly from amd.
You will then get the latest one.

When your new card arrives, uninstall all nvidia apps from the control panel.
Replace with the new card and install the drivers from your saved file.

I dont know how to make a safe file with the amd drivers

save the file, not "safe".

When you download, you are usually given the option to run the app or to save it in your downloads folder.
I suggest you download and save the driver ahead of time so you can install it quickly when you get your new card.

Sorry about my spelling errors

Is it necessary to have the drivers in a save file? Or can i just install the amd driver when i booted my windows

Okey but thanks for the tip

Navigating websites in the low res of 800x600 isn't fun. That's all we are saying.

That said I think the default windows driver is much better now isn't it? With win8 or win10 I'm not sure this step is needed anymore. Winxp it was nearly a requirement.

well i got 8.1 so do i need the save file?

You don't have to mate but what geofelt suggested makes perfect sense because youll be ready to go as soon as you insert you're new RX 470 & power up.

Pick your link , if you want the full software package to allow recording , twitch streaming etc & automatic game optimisation pick the full 17.4.1 package at the top

This is over 400mb so if you have a slowish internet connection it makes perfect sense to download it in advance.

The 17.2.1 minimal package is much much smaller & will get you up & gaming but has none of the extra and software included.

It should download to your standard download folder & when you boot with the RX 470 in you just have to GI there & double click the downloaded file to install.

Means you'll be up & gaming within about 5 minutes if you already have bit downloaded.

Because i suck with files and stuff i dont wanna screw up my pc :) Ive got 100mb internet so no problem :). Ill just do as you said and when i got the card installed i will go to amd and get the rx 470 drivers :)
