Switching Windows 10 from HDD to SSD

My friend purchased an ssd and would like to transfer the OS to it. He used the Windows 7 to 10 upgrade so how would we go about with a clean install of windows on the new ssd?

do you want to simply switch it to the ssd or do you want to do a clean install?

It would be much quicker to clone the hdd to the ssd so you do not have to re-install
