Here my problem in a very short form
Had a Dragon Ultra for 1 year working just fine then one day the
system just died, sent the mobo to SOyo for repair they sent me a new
one back ($35), so I put back in the case plug all components back in
(FX5200 MSI video, 2 2700 512 mb sticks, firewire card, 2 Western
digital hds) but XP would never finish the boot process so I figured I
had to re-install the OS so I did... XP installs fine but during boot
it hangs... progress bar moves for about 1 hour then PC locks up, I'm
able to boot in safe mode and when checking event viewer it shows a
bunch of boot drivers unable to start (one of them is the AMD
processor driver). Here what I have tried:
1) Bios Disabled sound, nic, Raid and USB
2) Removed one of the 512 stick, swapped it
3) Removed every card but the video
3) swapped the FX5200 with a Abit Siluro
I'm at a loss... the mobo came with the latest BIOS 09

Well I found the fix.. still don't understand how but seems like my
Yamaha CDRW drive was the culprit of my problems, before I replaced
the mobo this drive was configured as SCSI (and worked well) after I
got the replacement I decided to get rid of my SCSI card and
configured the drive as IDE, BIOS sees the drive but no matter how I
configured it (Master, slave or CS) XP won't finish the boot
process... weird !! considering that I was able to setup XP booting of
the CD drive, anyway hope this might help someone
