Synaptics announced a new fingerprint sensor called the Natural ID FS4304, as well as a security suite called SentryPoint, which enables complete isolation of the fingerprint sensor from the host processor, increasing security against malware.

It's about time someone implemented that.
The current implementation where the host software gets to see fingerprint data was possibly the worst idea ever conceived in security.
