quick question...

I'm interested moving my growing music/video collection onto an external hard drive. Of course, I don't want my external drive to be the only place it resides, in the event that it dies, gets lost, etc...

I intend to take my external drive to other computers and use it there. So ideally, my home computer would have a full copy of all my media files and then there would be an exact duplicate on the external drive. Now, I can figure out how to make that happen easy enough. However, if files got added while I was using my external drive on a different computer or files were added to my home computer, then the exact copy situation wouldn't exist anymore.

So... the question (that is now not so quick) is what program or utility would any of you recommend to keep everything nice and synchronized? I've looked at several options on the internet, but I'm wondering what you have been using and have liked.

Thanks!

I prefer a third-party file manager called Total Commander 6.01, which has excellent folder/file synchronization abilities, as well as many other useful features, such as FTP, and the ability to show super hidden files in Windows. I use the program regularly to synchronize folders across my LAN.

I used Beyond Compare 2. It has a nice interface, installs into the right-click menu and is generally easy to use.
