Synchronizing RAM speed...

Hello,

I've been overclocking for a couple years but I want to know if synchronizing my RAM, even if it means downclocking, will improve performance? My current OC is 9x333 and my RAM is running at 419MHz DDR2-800. When I boot it says "asynchronous" I believe (I'm at work). Would I be better off dropping it, or should I go for a higher overclock (lowering the RAM multiplier and raising the FSB)?

you should not run the RAM slower than 1:1 (DDR2-533 in dual-channel mode for 1066MHz data rate FSB CPU). Running one "notch" faster (DDR2-667 in this case) won't boost performance, but running two or more "notches" faster (DDR2-800 or higher in this case), will boost performance a bit.
