Hey Guys,

I was using an Intel Pentium E2140 @ 1.60 Ghz processor for a long time. My motherboard is of 775 LGA socket type. After making a number of researches in the internet and online forums, I came to know that my current motherboard (775 LGA socket type) can support Core 2 Duo processor. Today, I purchased a second hand Core 2 Duo processor 2.93 GHz 3M Cache. I tried booting up the system after replacing my old CPU with the one that I got today. But, the system didn't boot at all. Once after pressing the power button in the CPU Cabinet, the CPU fan started running and I could see the LENOVO branding name in the monitor. However, the system freezes there itself and no more sign of proceedings further. I couldn't proceed into BIOS settings either. What might be the possible solutions for this? Was the CPU not supported by my motherboard?

My dealer says that my Pentium Processor has 1M cache whereas the C2D which I bought has 3M cache memory. That was the reason for the system not being booting up. Can that supposedly be the reason?
