I got 2 questions

1.is my build fine? (Everything compatable)
I5 4570(no overclock)
Ripjaws 8gb ram 2133mhz
Z97 mark 2(without armour)
1TB western digital
disc reader very basic one
Corsair RM 850 gold psu
Fractal deisgn r4
Windows 8.1

2. When connecting the cpu connector the 8 pin does it matter which orientation i place it in for example does the writing have to face north or anything

850w is too much for your pc and get gigabyte ga-z97x-UD5H instead of z97 mark 2 and 1600mhz ram is enough

Get a H87 mobo. Your cpu doesn't overclcok anyway.

What graphics card?

CPU connectors only fit one way

First of all @rushib1 is right 850w too much and THE ASUS maximus VII Hero is a better and a bit more expensive motherboard than the GIGABYTE GA-Z97X-UD5H and take 1600 mhz ram if you want more speed then just overclock the ram speed!
and ur build is compatible
