System Build for WoW max settings?

Hi guys, ive read alot of threads here but never posted.

Im looking to buy a PC for World of warcraft and world of warcraft only. I want to run at max settings or high settings with an average of about 50-60 fps and atleast 40-45+ in raids. My budget is 1000 dollars or less, i will be running on a 22inch hp monitor with a 1680x1050 resolution. Can any of you guys help me build a computer with these specs in mind?

That's a huge budget for WoW. Here's a build to your budget that'd play any game well.

GPU: Radeon HD 5850 $300

RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws 2x2 GB 1333 mhz CAS Latency 7 $100

Case/PSU: Combo on Newegg.com: HAF 922 and OCZ StealthXStream 700W $100 after rebates

Optical: Cheapest SATA DVD burner $30

HDD: Samsung Spinpoint F3 500 GB $55

Total of $970.

Something that's more to WoW's specs:

Oh i am very sorry i did not see that thread and i will edit my post right now.

As for the 2nd specs for 715 they seem to tickle my fancy especially the ATi HD 5770 (i think). My question for you sir is, i know i already asked it but would it fufull the needs that i posted? aka 40+ in 25 man raids and 50+ everywhere else on max settings?

Alright i just edited my post. My dad is a total computer nerd so hes going to help me build it so that should be no problem.

Edit: I was looking for the HD 5770 on newegg and found many different cards. Was there one specifically you were talking about?

Didnt see your above post above the wow specs by accident >.<. I couldnt find the ram card on newegg. i copy pasted it exactly and nothing came up , any clue? (sorry for the naginess)

I don't have advice as to specific parts (as MadAdmiral and dirtmountain, et al, have given good advice there already), but wanted to add in a few thoughts as an ex-WoW junkie.

Even though they keep cranking out new expansions, the guts of that game are still hovering around where they were when the game was released in 2004 - obviously the graphics have improved over time, and every iteration keeps requiring a little bit more to stay at the top (i.e., with WotLK, they added that "Ultra" video settings mode), but even with that, the game has never been redesigned to take advantage of advances is technology.

Specifically, the game is not optimized for tri- or quad-core processing - I believe it can utilize two cores, but I might even be wrong about that - and it does not reap huge benefits from SLI or Crossfire GPU configurations. Ultimately, if all you are concerned with is playing WoW, I would advise that you spend some time reading the worldofwarcraft.com tech forums, so that you can get an idea of the game's physical limitations. If memory serves me well (I still advise that you do some searching on your own), you should be able to crush anything WoW throws at you if you focus on a good processor paired with a powerful single GPU and good RAM - both of which have been recommended by others.

Anyway, good luck with your build! I have my fingers crossed that I don't get dragged back into that game when Cataclysm drops.

dirtmountain's build is also excellent. You probably don't need the extra cooling the HAF gives you, but if you were to expand, it would be nice to have.

Ive read some where a while back that WoW is cpu based so intel would be the best option...atleast from what i recall. Now MadAdmiral what if i were to take:

But instead of the HD 5850 for 300 that you listed take the HD 5770 to stay in the 750-800 range? Would that work out better?

While WOW is optimized for duo cores it can be configured by the user for tri or quad cores using affinity masking. Here's the long thread with numerous blue postings on how to do it.
