System Build Suggestion

I'm looking to upgrade my PC performance and was curious if a new build would be worth it or not.

Current Rig:
CPU: i7-3770k
RAM: 16GB DDR3
GPU: GTX 670
MB: Asus Z77
HD: Samsung 850 Evo
Case: Old and dirty Antec

Potential Rig:
CPU: i5-7600k
RAM 16GB DDR4
GPU: GTX 1070
MB: ASRock Fatal1ty K6
HD: Samsung 850 Evo
Case: Fractal Define C

I'm a heavy gamer (WoW, Ark, Cities Skylines, etc) and have debated just getting a new GPU; however, something shiny and new is appealing. Will i see significant improvement with a new build vs simply upgrading my GPU?

much better off with current rig + 1070. the new i5 and ddr4 will make a small difference if any. there is a bit of a leap in performance from intel 3rd gen to 4th gen, nothing crazy. then, 5th, 6th, 7th gen are all very minor improvements. newer chips havent improved as much as you'd think. losing hyperthreading from the i7 to the i5 will hurt the most.

Would you suggest sticking with my current system if I put in a current i7-6700k or higher instead of the i5?

not really. why change the processor at all? i basically told you it was not worth it in my previous reply. keep your cpu, get a 1070. if you have issues then worry about upgrade. but you wont....
