Read the description. One 6-pin, one 6+2 pin. 6+2 means exactly that, a 6-pin connector with a 2-pin extension. You can use a 6+2 pin connector as either a 6-pin or an 8-pin by using or not using the 2-pin extension.

pretty much did the exact same thing for a buddy's build, cept i had to throw in an OEM version of windows 7 and i also got him a 32GB SSD for his boot drive. in CAD it all came to 1000$ with tax & shipping. the only real difference was the case, as i got an Azza Solano 1000 for 63$ afeter MIR =D =D =D

I am having a hellava time trying to find the XIGMATEK HDT-SD964 cooler. Is there anyone out that there that knows whether I can substitute a cpu cooler for the one used in this build? I'm new to building systems and the $750 march build is my first build.

Gargly, yes you can substitute a different cooler. Try going to http://www.frostytech.com/articles.cfm and finding something offering equal-or-better performance within it's price range. To do so, read the most recent review and get to the comparison tables near the end. Find the Xiggy HDT-964 and look for better performing alternatives, then try to find them at an e-tailer or retailer.

Honestly, for around $30, you really can't go wrong with a Cooler Master Hyper 212+, unless perhaps noise is an issue and you're looking for something quieter.

Newegg has been out of the Xiggy HDT-SD964 for awhile. I'm wondering if the Xiggy HDT-S1283 will work with this system. I haven't built a pc since back in the scsi days and would appreciate the help.

Great question! How is ANYONE going to build a $750 gaming PC when his 2560x1600 display puts him over-budget before he buys any other part?

Great build. In fact its so great that I have purchased pretty much the same thing. It's my first foray into the OC world. Any suggestion on temp monitoring programs? Since the case fans use the molex connectors there isn't a way to use software controlled fan speeds correct? Can simply open case and use the switches. Thanks.

I am trying to use this as a guide to try and build my first gaming rig, since i dont know how the use of a different motherboard will affect my build i would appreciate some suggestions. (Seems both of these boards are either discountined or out of stock by Newegg) The cpu cooler is also unavailable but im not concerned with that as long as i buy something of quality. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
