This is my first time posting in this forum, so I apologize if there's something i'm unaware of or I don't properly explain something.
I'm not sure where the problem ocurred so I'll explain as much as I can.
I have an issue where windows won't start and instead a black screen appears with the message: "An operating system wasn't found. Try disconnecting any drives that don't contain an operating system and restart".
I have 2 hdds, an old one where I have miscellaneous information, and a newer 2TB one where I installed windows and have most of my stuff. I created a partition from this new drive and left only 150GB for the partition with the OS.
The partitions would look like this:
System reserved space > C drive (Partition 1, 150GB) > D drive (old hdd) > F drive (Partition 2, rest of the 2TB)
I later wanted to return some space to partition 1, so planned to I use disk manager to shrink partition 2 and use that unallocated space to expand partition 1. I couldn't expand partition 1 and according to what I found, I needed to first move the unallocated space next to partition 1. So I first unallocated space from partition 2 using disk manager, then downloaded a partition manager software and used it to place the tasks of moving the unallocated space to and expanding partition 1 then executed it. The process looked like this:
(After using disk manager)
System > C drive (Partition 1, 150GB) > D drive (old hdd) > F drive (Partition 2) > 300 GB Unallocated space.
(Intended end result after the task completed in the partition manager software)
System > C drive (Partition 1, 450GB) > D drive (old hdd) > F drive (Partition 2)
It was gonna take a long time so I clicked an option that would shut down the computer once it finished and left it running during the night.
Later when I came back and turned on the computer I got the aforementioned message where it couldn't find my OS.
I've since removed the old D drive and tried running a repair scan from an usb with a windows installer, but the message still appears. I fear I might have damaged my hdd. Is there any way to fix this? I didn't realize I had erased my Images so I don't have a previous point to recover to.
Thanks in advance for any help on this.
