I already have Windows 7 64bit, keyboard, and mouse. No need for optical drive... Windows on a zip drive.

Still need a monitor in the $100-110 range. I have a Samsung 23"LCD TV for now.

I am open to any tips or suggestions. Coming from a 2006 Vaio laptop this thing will should be awesome.

Well, I used my old grad school account to purchase Windows 7 online for $30. I've yet to download anything, but received the license code. I thought I read online that the initial start-up was like 4gb or something... I figured I just download that and it would ask for my pass-code and then install the rest once I had eveything fired up. I guess I could use my current laptop and burn some CD's if that's a better (only option).

Floppy discs were 1.44 megabytes
Zip discs were 100 megabyte and later 250 megabyte

Windows is far larger size than this and cant possibly fit on a Zip disc

SATA technology didnt exits then so instead of connecting hard drives and cd/dvd drives to motherboards with small SATA cables computers had 40 [or 80] wire ribbon IDE connectors . 2011 motherboards dont even have this kind of connector so it would be impossible to use an Iomega Zip drive to install anything

Ah yes, I say zip drive and I really mean something like a "thumbdrive" (hope that's right), little piece that plugs into a usb port and can save word documents, etc.

I know, DVD drives are cheap. I should just add one on... otherwise, how does the order look?

I know. I chose a few higher end version of things (like the Wester Digital) and I even priced out a Phenom IIx4 955BE with an HD 6770... because the phenom works well with 4GB RAM @ 1300 compared to the 8GB @ 1600 which helps the Llano catch up.

I have been torn for about two weeks on which way to go.
