My friend tried to recover his laptop by using the recover button u can do from (controlpanel) and systems. It failed and when I try to start his laptop it says the typically Windows failed to start, \Windows\system32\winload.exe. Status:0xc000000f.
If it was my own laptop and if it was a desktop I would just make a clean installation. Delete all partitions and install new windows. But his laptop got these ones........
disk 0 partition 1 200 mb system
disk 0 partition 2 227,7gb all free, primary
disk0 unallocated space 194 gb all free
disk 0 partition 3: lenovo 29gb 8mb free, LOGICAL
disk 0 partition 4:LENOVO_PART 14 gb 3.3free OEM (reserved)

Im afraid he got 2 harddrives a hdd and a sdd for windows. Im not sure and this looks like shit to my eyes.
So if I could prevent deleting all partions and do a normal recovery it would be great.
SO I found this and I dont know if its what I should do. http://

But when I type the things in command it doesnt work.

SO guys what should I do? DOnt wanna destroy his laptop 😛 cause he needs to use it at saturday.

Best regards Niklas :)

Btw im not sure if the thread is in the right place. Let me know :)

Looks like he has a Lenovo laptop. I'm going to assume it has windows 7. Right after the bios screen, start spamming the f8 key. Once you get the options list, select the first one that should say Repair This Computer. Once it loads everything you should have the option to do a factory reset.

Yea one of the partitions says lenovo so u are absolutely right 😀 And windows 7.
Nothing happens when I press f8. Im still in windows boot manager and it says:
Windows failed to start, recent software or hardware change might be the problem. To fix1 insert windows disc and restart. 2 language and press next. 3 click repair computer.
And the file is the windowssystem32 as I described earlier..

Try using F11 to get to the recovery partition. Keep in mind this will wipe all the data on the system and bring it back to factory defaults.

This issue is often caused by a bad hard drive, restoring won't help in that case. See if the BIOS has a drive test utility. If not, you can download a system test disk from Lenovo that has a drive test utility.

The Lenovo's are weird. Try using the enter key as soon as you power up the computer or if it has a thinkvantage button above the keys. They are blueish in color. That should give you more options.

What model laptop is it?

Why did he use recovery and what recovery exactly? Just tried to go back to a prior date in Windows or did he try to do a factory reset.
That is all one drive "Disk 0", but there are a bit more partitions than should be normal, and there is also an odd large unallocated space chunk. "disk0 unallocated space 194 gb all free".

Was someone messing around with the system for no real reason or were there error messages or something else going on before the attempted recovery?

What u mean by enter?? And its a lenovo b560 :)
Alright asked him again and its been recovered long time ago by another man and I dont know what he did. Its also been at the store he bought it by.
He also said he pressed the botton beside the on/off button. His other friend said that it was a recovery button. ( I did not know that. They made a recovery botton? weird) He pressed it and he could choose 2 things and he cant remember excatly but one of them was some with system. He pressed yes and it began and at some point it said error and went to the screen with windows.system32.winload.exe and insert cd, which it also says when I start it. It was just slow and the bottom line was weird he said so his friend said maybe it was some virus, so he should recovery it. There havnt been any errors before that.
And yes the partitions are so weird but I guess its just lenovo?
But what will happen if I delete all partions and installe a windows 7 and then install the drivers from lenovo? Then he hopefylle got one big partion. And if he has 2 harddrives it wont fuck up right? How can I even see if he has 2 harddrives? I mean like a hybrid with an ssd for windows and a hdd for other stuff.

With the partitions, most manufacturers partition out their drives like this. They have them for the recovery image, testing tools, actual OS, system reserved (which is standard for most PC's). If this is a hybrid drive then it will look like two different drives on one physical drive. It's part SSD and part mechanical. Typically you install the OS on the SSD portion and store data on the mechanical partitions. You can delete all partitions but will still have the two remaining. You can install win7 then just download and install the system update software from Lenovo and that will install all the drivers for the laptop. I typically find that everything just works better when you use the system recovery options.
