System firmware in device manager

What does system firmware do? I have this on my Dell Inspiron 3847 and I don't know what happens when you disable it. Can you enable it back on even after rebooting?

It maybe there if your mobo has a UEFI BIOS. Leave it alone

But what would happen if you disable it, can't you just re-enable it? I still don't know why Microsoft allows the end user to disable these important drivers.
