Hey,
I'm getting really frustrated with my system here and would like some advice/help. I have an asus z87 deluxe dual motherboard that I purchased in 2013, no issues until a couple years back when the audo jacks just stopped working and I resorted to using the built in bluetooth. That eventually stopped working too and I went and bought a bluetooth adapter which has been fine since.
I then got back into gaming and purchased a gpu, plopped it into the system and it ran fine for a while, but then I started getting bandwidth errors, massive system wide lag, audio drop outs, etc. Reinstalled windows, different drivers, etc and the problem persisted until I removed my gpu and went back to integrated graphics. So I thought it was my gpu and gave it to my younger brother, but he games on it and it is always whisper quiet and no issues are present. I forgot about it and focused on school.
Then today I purchased a used gtx 980ti and tried to play some games. Right away my PSU fan speed went to max and it was unbearable to hear while trying to game. I thought that maybe the PSU was just old(I've taken it apart and cleaned it before, etc) and maybe the bearings were going. So I went and purchased a brand new PSU, plugged it all in and same issue; anytime I launch any game, the PSU fan cranks up while the CPU and GPU fans remain silent, be it in menus or in gameplay. Worse yet, there is this electrical sounding noise coming from the PSU when it ramps up and this was present in the old PSU, but much less.
I'm at my wits ends, it seems to be that the likely culprit is my mobo, but I'm wondering if there's something else I could try before spending money for the umpteenth time trying to fix this system. It also throws a "CPU fan error!" message at nearly every boot and I've tried different fans, double checked connections. etc all to no avail.
