System Hydro Protection?

Hi Guys, I have a few computers in my home, a router, etc. All I protected with a surge protector. One is protected with a UPS.

Do surge protectors work? Is there a cheaper alternative to a UPS? It has worked really well through numerous storms, but it's pricey and I'd need several to cover the router, other PCs, etc.

My power goes out and I have brown outs regularly. I had one storm take out a system that was on and my router.

Any help is appreciated.

even th worst surge protector is better then having your computer or any electronics plugged directly into the wall. if you have brown outs a lot then the safest thing to do is get a UPS to keep the power going to the computer stable

Hmm, ok, same for just the router? I'd need a UPS? Gets pretty pricey when looking at 3 + computers in different rooms, router, etc.
