Should you create system image of a newly purchased computer only or you can do it after one year of using it. What about all the wear and tear of use and changes made during this time. Will it affect after this period. What is the difference?

First, have an installer disk available, they come in very handy and for Windows 7 you can get a legitimate ISO image of the same version from DIGITAL RIVER. Then keep your installer key in a safe place, you will need that too eventually.

I would suggest that you backup data frequently, and do a system backup periodically depending on how many programs you install. I'm a bit paranoid and clone my OS drive at least every other month since I have many programs and it takes almost a week to get it up and running again.
