System instability questions

I built a gaming PC about three weeks ago. Its worked well but it has had a couple of unexpected crashes. Windows gives me no clue on why the crashes have occured. I've run Prime95 and hwmonitor. All test on Prime95 pass with no errors. The only thing I see that concerns me is the temps on my CPU cores gets up to 110 and 111 degrees. Im not overclocked and I have a Phanteks PH-TC14PE on the CPU. Are these temps high or is that normal? The air blowing out of the case is cold and nothing is hot to the touch...

Any other suggestions...Any help would be greatly appreciated.

110 is super hot for a CPU. You should try to remove the cooler, clean the thermal paste and reapply new one, then assemble your cooler correctly.

It only runs at 110 when I am running the test. When I am surfing or doing anything else it runs in the low 80s. Is this still considered abnormal?

What is you CPU exact brand and model?
It differs from one another, but usually, 75-80C is on the hot side. Most intel CPUs will automatically shut the system down when it reaches ~85C in order to protect the components from damaging each other.

I removed the Phantek and reinstalled as you recommended. I think we may have a difference in comparisson, however. I think you are referencing Celsius and I am referencing Fahrenheit. When I was originally running the test I was averaging 40c and 110f. I ran an intel update utility and now all CPUs are running below 90F at this point. Im assuming Im ok at this point.

Ok this changes everything heh. So you temps at full stress are 40C? That's good. Do you have any error codes when you crash? Is it blue screen of death (BSOD)? Did you check your firmware version? Assure yourself to have the latest BIOS version.

Yes 40C at full test...Thanks I feel much better now.

No...Is there a place I should check for error codes? It seems like all of the crashes have been when the computer goes to sleep. I went in and changed my profile to have the PC never go to sleep.

I didn't do much heh. Just be sure you have the latest version of your motherboard's BIOS.
Check also if you power supply hard ErP / EuP certification. If not, it might not be able to handle very low power delivery without crashing.
