Hi,

After installing a new PSU,CPU and motherboard my computer wasn’t booting at all and went to the orange dram light. So I sent it to my local computer repair guy.

He had it for a few days and decided to try a different ram speed 3200mhz not the original 3600mhz Corsair vengeance RGB I already had.

So he rang yesterday and said after installing one stick of crucial 8gb 3200mhz ram it was booting fine so advised me to get the other 24gb ram the same to get back to my original 32gb.

Today I have tried to install the crucial 24gb ram with the existing 8gb but it won’t boot if there is any more than 1x8gb of ram. It won’t boot with 16gb or 32gb just the 8gb.

If you try more than 8gb the orange dram light comes on and nothing boots or posts.

But it also boots with 1 stick of my old ram 3600mhz Corsair vengeance RGB. But again with that ram any more than 1x8gb it don’t boot.

Motherboard - MSI PRO B760-P WIFI DDR4
I5 13400f
RTX 3060ti
32gb ram either 3600mhz Corsair vengeance RGB or 3200mhz crucial.
PSU - Corsair RM750x
Windows 11 pro
Intel stock cooler
500gb ssd
1tb ssd
1tb HDD

Update BIOS latest version.

Is this a fresh install of Windows after the parts upgrade?

windows did a lot of updates first time I booted it up yes. How do I update the bios? Thank you.

This bios build date is 28/03/2024

Go into BIOS and disable XMP. Force ram to 2133mhz operation mode.

Then try to boot with 2x16GB ram (or 2x8GB) configuration.
Can't understand from your description, what actual ram configuration you're using.
Make sure ram modules are placed in proper ram slots for dual channel operation (slots A2, B2 - 2nd and 4th counting from cpu).

Tried this but no luck unfortunately with 16gb 2x8 in correct slots.

It flashed red then orange red then orange and then just stays red and don’t boot.

When I booted off the one ram stick windows done a lot of updates but I don’t know if that would be classed as a “fresh install” it is worth trying that.

Power off PC. Unplug from wall. Remove coin battery on motherboard. Install a single pair of matched RAM modules into slots a2-b2. Reinstall battery and reconnect power. Try booting.

And no, that's not a fresh install. We'll cross that bridge later.

I done what you said to do.

When booted it, it then flashed red cpu then orange dram about 3 times and now is stuck of just orange dram.

Do the same thing with the other RAM kit.

Yo, here’s the deal:

1. Check Slots: Use slots 2 and 4 for dual-channel.
2. Update BIOS: Make sure it’s the latest version.
3. Disable XMP: Run everything at default speeds first.
4. Stick to One Kit: Mixing brands/speeds is a no-go. Use matching RAM sticks.
5. Test Sticks: Try each stick solo to rule out a bad one.

If it’s still not working, check MSI’s QVL for compatible RAM or hit up their support. Good luck! 🙌

Okay out there in left field but is there any chance a CPU pin is bent. That can and will play havoc with installing memory and PC crashing.

I'd try to reseat the CPU in it's socket.

And as stated above, inspect the socket for bent pins. Also inspect the RAM slots aswell.

As in on the cpu its self? That looked fine. But the cpu slot on the board not sure I’ll upload picture on here

That's what I see as well. Pictures are blurry. Not nit picking but if we can get a couple clear pics and from side angles like your looking through trees vs looking down at them from the sky.

Just to check to be sure on the board I got a 8 pin cpu power and next to it a 4 pin cpu power 2 I’m only currently using the 8pin. Not the 4pin.
