Hi, there's a big chance this question has been answered many times but i cannot find.

I'm planning on upgrading my CPU + MOBO and swapping my HDD to an m.2 SSD
i have never swapped any of these components before and i can only find alot of diffrent answers.
Are there any things i need to do BEFORE swapping cpu and mobo? i see things like updating drivers etc

i know that swapping OS from HDD to SDD is as simple as downloading samsung data migration? but CPU and MOBO are a little diffrent?
any chance how to keep windows boot on HDD till swap?

current build: i5-7500
gigabyte GA-H110M-S2H
Western Digital Caviar Blue 1 TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive

Full fresh install of the OS and everything else.

To prepare?
Save all your personal data and info off to some other device.
Personal files, username/passwords, application installs, driver installs....
You'll be starting from a bare OS.

Full clean install on the new drive, in the new system.
Anything else is grounds for fail and tears.

Swapping motherboards usually REQUIRES a clean OS install. You should plan for the need to do a clean OS install.

i just finished downloading windows 10 to an USB drive

i dont really have a way to backup my current 155GB of hard drive storage tbh.
if i understand correctly from all the obscure videos;
i swap mobo, cpu and put in ssd without the hdd being connected, i plugin the usb with windows, i update everything (my key is attached to my microsoft account), i download gpu drivers, mobo drivers etc and then im kind of clueless as to transfer all downloaded game files from my hdd to ssd

You really need somewhere else...some other drive, to backup your personal stuff, including Steam/Origin games.

Accessing this stuff after you reconnect the HDD in the new system can be done, but it can be messy.
if it's that important i guess i can whip up a ssd that i have laying somewhere. what do you recommend using so i dont also transfer the OS

Copy/Paste.

For games on the Steam platform, find the SteamApps folder, and copy that whole thing.

Later, you can tell the new Steam client where these are.

For all your other files, again, copy/paste.

The reason you do this first is to prevent any permissions problems, and to be sure that you have it all saved and offline.

alright, before i close this is what i have to do right;
i get the new components
i backup my current harddrive storage (155GB) to an external SSD/HDD
i disconnect everything and swap out MOBO, CPU and HDD
i put in new components, MOBO, CPU and SSD
i install windows and login with my microsoft account and it'll be verified right?
i install drivers? (nvidea drivers?)
i connect external SSD/HDD
transfer game files, minecraft, steam etc
done?

And tell the NEW Steam client where these game files are.

That functionality is built into the Steam client.
Steam games location
In the steam client:
Steam
Settings
Downloads
Steam Library Folders
Add library folder

No idea about Minecraft....don't have it.
