Hi all.

I recently built up a new PC and the system seemed fine at the start but trouble is starting. Here is the specs so long for reference.

- i7 4790K devils canyon 4.0Ghz
- 16gb mushkin 2400MHz RAM
- Gigabyte 970GTX G1
- Corsair 600T case with three case fans.
- Cooler Master V750, 750W gold plus power supply.

The first issue I encountered was the PC suddenly switching off with a momentary buzz sound following. I was playing serious sam 3, (not a demanding game for the 970GTX I am sure, opening the case revealed the 970GTX to be very hot to the touch, the back plate as well. So I immediately concluded overheating as the culprit.

This was worrying though because I was under the impression that Gigabyte's G1 cooler was almost overkill for the 970GTX. I live in South Africa where the ambient temperatures can hang around 32 degrees celcius. I eventually wondered if it isn't gigabyte's OC guru 2 software that I did not set up but was open. So I found that even a low spec game makes the software push the G1 card to 14700MHz! this seems strange to me. And I havent had issues since limitung the OC software to a specific temperature (65 degrees).

Now my second and last incident was yesterday, switching the computer on it failed to start and made a buzzing sound again. for a bit. This troubled me because it immediately shifts my attention back to the power supply. And actually I am inclined to suspect my supply to it instead of the supply itself as the V750 seems to have a low failure rate according to cooler master.

The extension cord I have plugged my multiplug into to supply the PC is old and I now I first started by using a brand new one.

I know this is only two incidents in 5 weeks of running the system but I like to get issues resolved and understood before I let it become serious.

So I would just like to ask the forum if anyone has had any experience with issues with the same hardware I am running and if it is something I should be as worried about as I am.

P.S. I will be running stress test and benchmarks asap to see if I can get any issues triggered.

Any suggestions and discussion would be appreciated, thank you.
