System Recovery

Hello,

I need to free up Recovery D disk space to create a check point for system recovery. The option to free up disk space is available but states to free up space delete recycling bin, I don't have anything in my recycling bin.

I noticed I had no recovery check points on my desktop when I accidentally uninstalled a program that I needed. I still have peaces of the program available but don't know how to get it back. If any one can help with both of my problems it is much appreciated.

The D: partition is a image of the system as it was shipped to you from the factory and does not need to have a system restore image made of it (which is why it is not included in the system restore images) since you never make any changes to it - It is only used if you need to restore the system to what it was when you bought it (ie. if the C:\ partition becomes corrupted or you want to start over.)

System restore is only needed on drives that you are apt to make changes to so that you can recover from the change if something goes wrong and should never be needed for your recovery partition so it is disabled for that partition.

To get the program back best bet is to reinstall it from the program disk.

I'm am a little confused. So I do not need to have any restore check points? I thought a check point is important to have when and if the PC acts up so not to loose any information like file and pic etc...?
I bought my desk top used and the program came with the pc so I have no program disk to reinstall.

System restore will back up points on each HDD partition independently -- so Yes you need restore points for the reasons you stated on your HDDs that information is changing on (ie. your C:\ drive in this case ) but are not needed on the hidden recovery drive (D:\ partition on your system) because you are never changing anything on the drive (it is a mirror image of the c:\ drive partition when the computer left the factory that is used to restore the system to factory condition if ever needed - meaning you will lose any and all information that you have put on your C:\ drive since receiving the system (ie. any personal documents\pictures\programs you've installed\updates to any programs provided with the purchase\etc.) - so should only be used in an extreme emergency when all other avenues have failed - and thus making a restore point including it just wastes the HDD space used for the restore point since it will always remain the same so any time you restore you will be just making a new copy of the same exact file.
