Hello,
My computer is wanting me to install CD ROM and repair..I am scared to do that..don't want to lose data

A repair installation won't lose any data... it's always recommended to backup important files just in case but it mostly is not necessary.

What message are you getting? I've never seen or known of a message from Windows to do a repair installation, repair messages I've seen are from SFC System File Protection asking to replace missing or corrupted System Files... if this is the message you get, just insert the CD and the System will automatically replace missing or corrupted files, and no data will or can be lost

If you need to do a Repair Installation, this video tutorial on how to do it should give you all the steps to follow during a repair of Window XP... Watch it and make notes before proceeding with a Repair.

Chicano, I clicked on your link out of curiosity and found the video link doesn't exist. I hope you aren't using Tom's to plug a site which requires payment for help.

Some manufacturers could cause the message pokllyg10 is seeing so the question is, what is the make and model if this computer?

Even with this link you can find the video right there.. but see if this link helps to see the video in full size:

This issue is apparently common in this forum... don't know if it is intentional or a problem but a solution for users is to copy the link to a text file, then copy the link in text to a web browser...

You can see the diference between the original link and copying the link - to text - to browser here:

My suggestion to members is; when providing links, don't paste your links straight from the browser, instead paste them as text to prevent this confusion
