system restore OS

when i select system restore on windows 8 it says i must restart and select an operating system, but when i restart it goes into automatic repaair and doesn't give me the option to select an OS. note i have a flash disk with windows 8 on to install and in the left hand corner it says repair computer which is what i select. Any advice?

Please let me know whether the unit is booting into Windows or is it directly restarting when you power on the unit? I request you to kindly take a back up of all the important data before you perform any troubleshooting as this restore can lead to data loss.
