Question fan replacement for a chip damaged gtx 760

using a 11 year old gtx 760 fans stopped working few months ago, opened it and got this chip kind of chipped off, dont know how it happened it btw, since the fans arent working the temp is always above 100 when watching movies. should i open it again and spend 10$ on a replacement fan ? any idea how long it will last in this 100+ temperatures ? and on a sca;le of 10 how badly damged is the gpu

I would retire the GPU.

Those are well beyond thermal throttling temps. If the GPU was alive, you were merely cooking the GPU to death.

I would retire your GPU before it makes anymore damage and having GPU at 100% and really high temps with no fan surpriced chip and such are not melted yet. Would really stop using the GPU or trying to find ways of fixing it.

GTX 760 is not expensive to replace.

GTX 950 on ebay go for $30-40

GTX 1050 $50-80

GTX 1650 bounce around between $50 and $100, new ones are about $150 at the low end.

If you are just doing video playback, you could pick up a new GT1030 for about $90, or an Intel A310 for $100 (very modern, so double check if your system is compatible.)

yes, finally opened it and gave it a clean few months ago when the fans completely stopped working

i would if not for the money problem and not to mention i would need add a new psu also, i doubt my current vs450 would work at 100% load which usually happens when watching movies etc

edit- i found some fans

when i opened and cleaned and repasted thermal paste i didnt took any pictures of the fan model so now i dont really know which model the card is using, since opening the card seems very risky to me now as there is no working fan available and theres already some damge in the chip. any ideas if the fan model matters that much ? since both are usual 4 pin fans

i guess because its been winter season where im living for the last few months so the ambient temp is kinda low, this helps i think from crashing

Not clear to me why a VS450 couldn't run those cards. They are all quite light and in most cases way less power draw than the current GTX 760.

You can spend like $15 on replacement fans, or $30 on a replacement GPU?

Same advice as last time. Basically just enter the name of the card plus replacement fans and you will find many offerings from various online market places.

You can also just strap a pair of 120mm case fans to the card. As long as the heatsink is making good contact that should be more than enough cooling.
