[SOLVED] System switches to cpu graphics in the middle of playing game

When I play DOTA2 (idk about other games) I get random fps drops for a while. From 60 to 5 or maybe even 1! I've checked the usage of both the integrated graphics and the dedicated graphics while gaming and when the game's running smoothly the dedicated gpu is high load, and the integrated graphics have no load. However the fps drops randomly for varying periods of time. Checking back on task manager during these fps drops, the integrated graphics take the load and the dedicated graphics have little to no load. I'm not sure what the problem is.

My system is a Asus K556U
Intel i7 7500U
GeForce 940MX

Any help or suggestions are appreciated.

Have you tried to go into the BIOS and disable the integrated GPU?.... Thats of course if you don't need it for anything else.

Also. Are you perhaps using an external monitor?

On a laptop - you definitely don't want to disable integrated graphics.

You can force game to run on discrete graphics always.
Currently it's probably on setting "Let windows decide".

You can force game to run on discrete graphics always.
Currently it's probably on setting "Let windows decide".
