System Thread Exception Not Handled

Hiya guys, within the last hour or so my computer has been unable to boot into Windows. The boot animation starts for about half a second before throwing a bsod with the exception System_Thread_Exception_Not_Handled, with an address so to speak of 0xc0000001. I've attempted to use a Windows disk to rectify the problem, however using "startup repair" yields no results; nor does using bootrec or chkdsk on the boot drive.

Attempting to boot in safemode results in the same error & trying to "reset" Windows using the installation media ends in an unexplained error. I have also reset the BIOS with no beneficial results. The original issue arose after I hard reset my computer after preforming a defrag on an internal hdd. The computer was off for less than 10 seconds with no hardware nor software changes just before the issue arose. Using sfc /scannow results in a error starting that there is already a scan pending.

The hardware in question is as followed

MSI X99A GAMING PRO CARBON (on BIOS 110)
Intel 6900k (CPU)
Samsung 950 Pro (boot drive)
x8 16GB DIMMs of ram @ 2400mz
MSI GeForce GTX 980TI GAMING 6G

Runing Windows 10 Pro

All was functioning fine for the past 15 days, any insight into the problem would be greatly appreciated by myself.

I should like to note, that I am unable to use system restore as it is my understanding that vss is disabled by default in Windows 10.

Solution
System restore does actually work in Win 10, its just not very reliable.
This could fix SFC - I would try step 2: https://support.4it.com.au/article/how-to-fix-sfc-scannow-there-is-a-system-repair-pending/
I have a sneaking suspicion that step 3 here would help: http://www.thewindowsclub.com/the-drive-where-windows-is-installed-is-locked

I hope the hdd you defraged wasn't your ssd as that is not something you should do on an SSD (Most defrag utilities won't let you run them on ssd)

you might need to reinstall win 10 but you can use this to copy files if need be: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/use-ubuntu-live-cd-to-backup-files-from-your-dead-windows-computer/
