Hi!

I'll be upgrading my brother's pc, and I'd be happy to hear any recommendations/advice about the components I chose.
The current system has an old phenom 1090T, I plan to get the following things:
CPU: R5 1600 - 259$
MB: Asrock AB350 PRO4 - 116$
SSD: Samsung 250GB 960 evo, MZ-V6E250BW - 159$
RAM: Kingston 2x4gb 2133Mhz, HX421C14FBK2/8 - 99$
Any MB/ram recommendations are welcome, but most of the stuff I tried to find was not available in my country (that's why I picked these).
I also believe that a 7700k would be better, since the pc will be used mostly for gaming (for SC2, Guild Wars, Black Desert online, and games like that), but my brother seems to prefer the ssd over a faster cpu in games (and he's an amd fanboy).
Any recommendations and advice is welcome.

Ok, so the 7700k is good when it comes to gaming with better IPC but the Ryzen 1700's extra core helps in multitasking and more threaded performance. When you consider the 7700k, the Ryzen 7 1700 is a better alternative. Now SSD is a must in today's world not exactly for gaming but for the OS to be snappier, i.e, a 120 gb ssd is enough for the OS installation and another 1 or 2 TB HDD is good enough for all those game installs. Yes, SSD reduces the loading times a lot but doesn't affect gaming performance much.
The RAM needs to be changed; You should go with a 3000 + mhz RAM.

Thanks for the recommendations. Sadly the ram you recommended is 230$ over here, and the mb is 170$ (and I won't use SLI, or even do extreme OC) which goes over my budget. I'll try to find a reasonably priced 3000+ ram however, if it is important.

The budget is around 730$, and I'll only change the CPU (I have a hyper evo 212 from my previous system, so hopefully it will fit the new one), MB, RAM and the SSD is optional(as in it can be removed in favor of a 7700k for example). The location is Bulgaria, so while your recommendation fits perfectly in my budget if I were in the USA, over here things are a bit more pricey. I've edited my original comment to reflect the price of the components I've chosen in my country. I was expecting a more general answer just recommending a few ram kits/motherboards, and a discussion of 1600 with ssd vs 7700k without one (for mostly gaming). Also note that I won't be overclocking very much, nor would I use sli, so the feature set of the ab350 pro4 seemed ok to me.

For your budget the best you can do is a gtx 1060 + ryzen 1600 + random b350 board and the fastest ram you can afford.

He has a GPU already, which he'll change in 1-2 years. The main question was about MB, RAM, and 7700k vs r5 1600/1700.

Well then just ditch the gtx 1060 and just get a normal r5 1600 as all of those games aren't that demanding.
