First time posting here... Be Gentle & don't laugh too loud :)

System:
Aorus x470 Ultra Gaming MB
BIOS: American Megatrends F2 3/14/2018
Ryzen 5 2400g
1Tb WD HDD -- have had this for too many years over several builds
Nvidia GTX 1050Ti
8Gb x2 RAM -- system only sees 8 for some reason but it hasn't bothered me too much
Win 10

Questions:
I think it's time to upgrade the HDD to a Kingston FURY Renegade 2Tb M.2
What do you think?

Update to Win 11
The bios is OLD... since i'm going to do a fresh install is it time to update that bios?
Any preference?
I've never updated a bios before... pitfalls?

I'm assuming with the upgrade to Windows 11 and the bios I will finally be able to see all the RAM.
I don't need to get into why it's not showing up at the moment.

Is there a particular order I should follw to do the upgrades?
Update the bios before I do a new windows installation perhaps?

As I said I've never done a bios update

I look forward to your comments
Matt

I bought it as a set 2 8's DDR4
I never really checked when I set up the machine years ago and then when I finally noticed it I was just too lazy to do anything about it. Only having 8 never gave me a problem for what I was doing at the time.

As said, there is no diff between Win 10 and 11 for this.

Might be the motherboard slot, might be a bad RAM stick. Might be one of them is not quite inserted all the way.

Yepp... several things for sure... thats why I wasnt really worried about it for the time being. I will reseat it and swith it around and be more cognizant of it running... TY
So then... it's safe to go ahead and update the latest bios.
Is there a particular bios I should be getting?

BIOS - Whatever is the newest, non-beta version.
Read the specific instructions in detail. There may be intermediate steps you have to do.

Read BIOS update notes. There is a specific sequence, you have to follow.

1. Install AMD Chipset Driver 18.10.20.02 or latest version.
2. Update BIOS to F31 before F40 (or later).
3. Install EC FW Update Tool (B19.0517.1 or later version).
2. Update BIOS to latest nonbeta version - F65d.

Turns out my CPU isn't supported by Win 11 (Ryzen 5 2400g)
So... I have to update the BIOS (F2) for a new CPU anyway
This just keeps getting better and better...

Upgrade path...
Ryzen 5 5600g -- $140
DDR3200 2x16 -- $52
WD Black SN770 2TB -- $120
TOTAL -- $312

Commnets...
