Hello-

EVGA Supernova 750 G2 power supply
Intel I7 5820K
Samsung V NAND 950 Pro M.2
Ripjaws 4 DDR 4 memory
ASRock X99 Xtreme 4 MB

I was surfing the internet, then the computer just completely shut down without warning. When I tried to turn the computer back on with the power button, the computer alternates between trying to boot up for about 1 or 2 seconds, then shuts down for 1 or 2 seconds, then tries to restart for 1 or 2 seconds, then shuts down for 1 or 2 seconds, and keeps doing this until I turn the power supply off. I can hear a relay clicking within the PSU when it tries to start up and shut down. That may be normal but not sure.

Other than normal Windows 10 updates, driver updates, etc., I haven't done anything to the computer to change it, and it has been operating perfectly for several months since my build.

I tried replacing the MB battery and reseating the MB and CPU power supply with no luck.

Where do I begin with this????

Thanks for your help in advace!

I'll still be here. I also have a general idea of where Hlsgsz is going with this, so I can offer my assistance in following his directions in case he can't respond for whatever reason.

Update....

Got home from my trip and had ONE new stick of the cheapest compatible DDR4 RAM waiting for me from Amazon. I set up the MB on a cardboard box with an old video card that I know worked, one stick of the new RAM, the new CPU and its cooler, a monitor, the power supply and that's it. It booted up. UFB.

The ONLY thing different with this little test is the new RAM. It *appears* to me that what caused the original catastrophic failure was the failure of 4 independent sticks of RAM????? I have never heard of that before, and I would have never guessed it. I had numbered each stick of RAM and tried every combination of 2 sticks (16 boot-ups!), and also had tried booting with only one stick of RAM at a time and the thing never booted up.

Anyway, going to put everything in the case now and add one component at a time to see what happens. Will report back if you're following this saga.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231792

That is the exact kit I bought. Worked great for 9 months.....until it didn't : )

I thought when I bought it, I checked to make sure it was compatible with the MB. If you're thinking that I should be using this RAM with this MB, could you link me a 4 stick kit that would work better?

Still reassembling the system so not out of the woods yet

Yeah, I don't know either. I replaced so many components who knows what actually fixed the issue. Regardless, it's working now and I'm happy to be done with this. Hopefully this thread helps someone else if they have a similar issue.

Anyway, I do VERY much appreciate your help and Hlsgsz's troubleshooting links. I hope you have a good Thanksgiving and holidays.
